Exploring: Abalone Cove Shoreline Park

In between working, furnishing our place, and preparing for the holidays, we got to explore a nearby oasis! Just an hour south of us in Rancho Palos Verdes is an adorable park overlooking the Pacific Ocean called Abalone Cove

Not only does this adorable park have ample space for picnics and lounging, but it is dog friendly! So of course we took little Buddy to explore and play in the tide pools- he loved it!

Here are a few of our favorite shots from the mid-day visit…in mid-November by the way! We caught low-tide so the brisk pools were crawling with wild creatures to observe while we enjoyed the PERFECT weather.

So maybe we broke the rules a little by allowing Buddy in the water, but eh, he’s harmless! As we hiked back up the hill to the parking lot we caught a huge pod of dolphin migrating across our view- there must have been hundreds in this clan! It was a perfect close to the afternoon and also made me realize how important it is to cherish the moments as opposed to catching the perfect shot with my camera. I was able to simply watch in amazement as they frolicked by and that image is more clear in my mind than the photos from the day. Just food for thought 🙂

We took advantage of the seaside adventure and drove along the coast with views of Catalina Island and the various marina’s nearby. The afternoon ended perfect as we indulged in some fried calamari at a local seafood house in Redondo Beach Marina and watched the sunset as the boat’s came in with the days catch.
Until next time, happy living from California!
