Here Fishy Fishy: To Catalina and Back

Posts

We were only prepared for a 1/2 day of fishing just outside of Marina Del Rey, but in some strange luck the charter boat decided to head towards Catalina Island for a full day of fishing! Our path was an unexpectedly beautiful adventure that I doubt could ever be recreated.

Not only did we catch full bag limits of bonita, sea bass, & yellowtail (which we took home to feast like King & Queen), but we passed several pods of dolphin, a group of humpback whales, plenty of friendly sea lion and pelican, and also both sunrise and sunset off the California coast.

We caught a quite dense marine layer on the trek out to the island, but once the mid-morning sun broke through, it was a perfect day on the sea with clear skies and calm waters. We boarded the Spitfire charter boat with about 20 others who all caught bag limit as well! Can’t go wrong with that.
